A fascinating auteur to some, and a figure of derision to others, this controversial director has been accused of plagiarism as often as he has been hailed for his artistry. So I welcome any entries, be they positive or negative. Send your contributions to me here, please.
And if you choose not to submit a piece, I ask that you at least help me promote this event at any respective websites you may own. I am happy to accept entries from anyone. And I can provide JPEGs like the one pictured above upon request.

De Palma Blog-A-Thon

Excellent idea. I have added the banner over at Moon in the Gutter and I will participate as well! It will be exciting to see what everyone comes up with for my favorite American filmmaker and good luck with it!

ReplyDeleteTony: I've been blogging for five years now, and for as many times as I've written about De Palma (or even mentioned him), I'm surprised that no one has come up with this idea yet, as far as I know anyway-- De Palma is an obvious and brilliant candidate for celebration. I just found out about the De Palma blog-a-thon today and will post the banner and news very soon! I will try to write something new if I can, but if not I have a couple of things from the archives I can dust off, whether or not I post something new.

ReplyDeleteYour De Palma question in the quiz, as well as Kevin J. Olson's recent De Palma post at his site, inspired this Blog-A-Thon.
De Palma is one of my filmmaking heroes- it was because of him and the other Movie Brats (Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola) that I first got interested in film around 3rd or 4th grade (the first movie of his I ever saw was, appropriately, "Mission to Mars"). I'm all in.
ReplyDeleteI know many of you are going to take the best movies of his career so I'll try to find a De Palma film to write on that nobody else will care to analyze. Then, if I accomplish my mission, I'll see if I can send it. I'm excited!
